Chiara & THE extended family Photo session

Extended family photography at home - Chiara's story If you're imagining an extended family photoshoot as quiet, serene, and perfectly posed, think again. Chiara's session was wild, chaotic, and absolutely perfect in every way. This wasn’t just a family photoshoot—it was a full-on, energetic celebration of four generations all coming together under one roof. Great grandma, grandma, Chiara and her family (including two energetic kids), and her brother’s family (with three teenagers) all packed into their home for a truly unforgettable afternoon.

The house was alive—and I mean that in the best possible way. The laughter, the noise, the hustle and bustle with hints of Italian culture throughout —it was exactly the kind of chaos that makes family portraits so special. I’ve been part of many family photoshoots, but this one truly embodied what it means to be an extended family. Each generation had its own rhythm, but there was something so beautiful about how they all meshed together.

Great grandma sat in the corner, a quiet presence, watching with loving eyes as the rest of the house came to life around her. Grandma, full of warmth and laughter, was quick to swoop in and corral the younger ones. Chiara and her husband were in the thick of it, balancing parenting with humor, making sure everyone was included. Then, there were the teenagers. Oh, the teenagers! At first, I thought I’d have to chase them down, but as it turned out, they were all in for the photos. Sure, we had a few playful wrestles to get them into the frame, but once they saw how much fun their little cousins were having, they were right there with them, making faces, cracking jokes, and showing off their best smiles (with just the right amount of attitude).

The energy was contagious. In the end, the photos captured far more than just portraits. They captured the essence of a big, noisy, loving family. It wasn’t about finding the perfect angle; it was about embracing the fun, the noise, and the love that made the session so memorable.
